At the recent Pride of Guernsey Awards, hosted by the Guernsey Evening Press, a special surprise award was announced by the island's Lieutenant Governor Vice Admiral Sir Ian Corder KCB CB, in which the Royal Guernsey Light Infantry Charitable Trust were named as making significant contribution in commemoration the role of the regiment in island history one hundred years ago.
There to receive the surprise award were trustees Colin Vaudin and Chris Oliver. On receiving the award Chris said "It was always our objective to acknowledge the men who fought so bravely in France. As so many still lie undiscovered in the fields of France today around Les Rues Vertes and we can not bring them home, the least we can do is take a piece of Guernsey to them. This is exactly what we are now able to do, 100 years after their sacrifice on 30th November this year"
