With over fifty individual donations from private individuals within the first six days of the launch of the appeal, the RGLI Charitable Trust has raised just over £ 3,100 from islanders moved to remember loved one and family members, or to contribute to the sacrifice the island made during World War One.
"We have had donations by post, email and direct to the Trust's bank account'" said Chris Oliver "with some incredible stories of families, their soldiers and brave exploits. Some are just too heartbreaking, others overwhelming in their ability to overcome impossible situations. With donations from £ 10, to £ 50 and even £ 100 it is not about how much is collected, but about the people of Guernsey having this as the only memorial to these brave men"
Further details on how to donate to the charity can be seen above in the reproduction of the donation form that appear in the Guernsey Evening Press on 17th February 2017.
