Masnieres Memorial

February 1, 2017

The two pieces of granite that were extracted from Les Vardes Quarry and donated by Ronez to the project, have today started their journey. Loaded at the Quarry this morning they are destined for a short journey to Simon Goodwin, master stonemason, who has given his time to inscribe the memorial before it is assembled and moved later this year. One the memoral is finished it will be transported by ferry and road to Masineres in northern France, where its final resting place is in Les Rue Vertes. Ronez General Manager Steve Roussel, left, and military historian Chris Oliver are pictured with the two pieces, which weigh three-quarters of a tonne each. (Photo Credit : Guernsey Press)
